Professional Areas of Interest – I practice across the entire scope of Family Medicine, but have a special interest is sports medicine, musculoskeletal care, cholesterol disorders, diabetes, hypertension and general pediatrics.

Personal Information – I grew up in rural northeast Iowa on a dairy farm as the 7th of nine children.  My wife Kelli and I were blessed with identical twin girls, Avery and Hailey, in October 2009.  My interests outside of medicine focus primarily on spending time with my family.  In addition to my twin girls, I have 20 nieces and nephews and cherish the opportunity to spend time with the rest of my family when time permits.

I am passionate about the University of Iowa athletics (Go Hawks!) and am a fan of most collegiate and professional sports.  I enjoy getting outdoors, playing recreational sports whenever possible and try to get out to the mountains for a ski trip each winter.

Professional Areas of Interest – I practice across the full range of family medicine, but have special interest in diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol disorders, sports medicine, weight management and dermatology.

Personal Information – I was born in the middle elevator of the old St. Joseph Hospital on Linwood in Kansas City. My father was a career USAF senior master sergeant, so we moved frequently. I grew up mainly on the East coast.

I have five brothers and sisters, and currently have three foster children: Alex, Tony and Elizabeth. They keep us very busy. I also sing with the KC Symphony Chorus and have since 1996, and am a member of a new church in the northland, New Song. I enjoy weightlifting, singing, acting and wine tasting.

Professional Areas of Interest – I practice across the broad scope of Family Medicine and have special interest in preventative health, “cholesterol” problems, diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders and geriatrics. I enjoy the challenge of difficult diagnoses.

Personal Statement – I believe that all people are important.  People should not be prejudged; they should always be “given the benefit of doubt”- this belief has, though it may seem simple, eased the suffering of many patients that I have encountered over the past 28 years as a physician.  I am devoted to helping every patient and have been able to discover many diseases that others have missed with careful listening and a more thorough investigation of their problems.

As you may notice when you visit our office, one of my hobbies is being an amateur arborist. You will see a variety of native Missouri trees and shrubs growing around our office. I particularly enjoy this quote as it applies to living life:

The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit. -- Nelson Henderson

Personal Information – I was born in central Kansas and grew up in around the country. I have two brothers and one sister. My father is a K-State graduate and is an engineer at Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant in Burlington, KS. I have three children: Emily, 1988, an orchestral harpist with the Chicago Civic Orchestra; Spencer, 1996, enjoys basketball, swimming, tennis, Scouts and computer games; Claire, 1998, enjoys playing volleyball and basketball; both attend Parkhill South High School.

I play tennis regularly and golf occasionally and enjoy snow skiing in the winter and sailing my Hobie 18 in the summer at Smithville Lake. My schedule is open for new patients and we accept most insurance plans. Looking forward to meeting you and seeing if I can help.
